On January 28th, our chapter had the honor to participate in the annual BLACKTHORN memorial at BLACKTHORN Memorial Park. This powerful ceremony was well attended and was presided over by VADM Poulin. Chapter President CWO Jonathon Trude and National President Christian Westerdahl placed the wreath.
The Chapter held an information meeting following the BLACKTHORN Memorial at
Beef O’Bradys. The following members were in attendance:
David Daniels Mike Paquette Bill Reetz Carl Seale
William Stevenson Jon Trude Christian Westerdahl (guest)
This meeting provided a great insight to the overall direction of the association. Christian gave updates regarding the sale of the Barge (not utilized anymore), the annual meeting and national by-laws changes. One of the biggest changes that was passed is the National President can be located anywhere within the continental US (must be Active Duty yet). The next business meeting is scheduled for 13 April 2022 location to be determined.
OPEN COUNTRY CHAPTER
The National Executive Committee voted to approve the creation of the Open Country Chapter. This chapter is a virtual chapter that will be available to any dues paying members that live outside of 50 miles from an established chapter. If you are a member of our chapter and would like to see about shifting to this chapter, please reach out.
The annual meeting is being held in Charleston, SC in April. CWO Will Stevenson will be the Suncoast’s active-duty representative and designated proxy for this year’s meeting. If you would like to attend, please register in the link provided below.

There are 11 members who have not paid their dues as of this letter. If you do not intend to renew your membership, please let Bill Reetz know so we can remove you from the roster.
Our current balance in the Treasury is $456.16.
Additionally, Mike Paquette will be retiring this summer and the Chapter will need someone to step up to assume this role. Though nobody can fill his shoes, we must at least try. If you might be interested, please reach out to Jon Trude.
We are in the process of designing a new coin! We only have four left of the old design, so if you would like one…please reach out to Jon Trude. They are $10. Will Stevenson is taking design recommendations. You can reach out to him at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are going to work with National to be able to sell them on the CWOA website.
