The decade leading up to the year 2000 brought new challenges and continued evolution for the Association. Improvements were made to the Association’s floating headquarters, known affectionately as “The Barge.” Upgrades included installation of an improved floating dock and a protective canvas canopy, enhancing both functionality and accessibility.
Although The Barge had served effectively for more than five years, it was always viewed as a temporary, albeit cost-efficient, solution. The long-term goal remained the acquisition of a permanent headquarters. To support that objective, the Building Fund continued to grow through the generosity of the Association’s approximately 3,300 members. By 1993, the fund had reached $40,000, reflecting the membership’s shared commitment to securing a lasting home for the Association.
