In 1992, the Association established a Long-Range Planning Committee, which convened during the Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. Its mission was to evaluate how the Association conducted business, ensure it was effectively meeting the needs of its members, and develop strategic goals for the next five years. The intent was to provide continuity and stability to an organization led by an evolving Board of Directors, ensuring that long-term objectives would remain consistent despite changes in leadership.
The committee consisted of five members representing a balance of experience and perspective: • One retired Distinguished Member. • One retired Distinguished Member and Past President of the Association. • Two sitting club presidents. • One Past Vice President of the Association and former Chairman of the National Council. The committee proved highly effective in guiding organizational direction. Based on its success, plans were made to reconvene a Long-Range Planning Committee every two years to maintain strategic focus and forward momentum.
