EIGHTH COAST GUARD DISTRICT, NEW ORLEANS, LA; A GREAT LESSON

At the time, I was a Chief Warrant Officer (Personnel) assigned to the Eighth Coast Guard District Personnel Office in New Orleans. During one particular week, the Captain I worked for was on leave and designated me as the “Acting” Chief of the Personnel Division.

Normally, that would not be a very big deal. Life tends to go on, and things usually take care of themselves.
