Dear Members of the Chief Warrant Officers Association,
As we navigate the uncertainties surrounding the looming government shutdown, I want to take a moment to speak directly to each of you about the importance of supporting one another and ensuring the well-being of our Coast Guard community. This is a time for us to stand united, demonstrating the leadership and care that define our roles as Warrant Officers. First and foremost, I urge you to check on your people. Ensure they have what they need—both professionally and personally—to weather this challenging time. As leaders, we are entrusted with the care and guidance of our junior Sailors, and it is our responsibility to provide them with the support and resources they need. However, let us not forget that we, too, are susceptible to the same challenges. Just as we look after our junior Sailors, we must also look after one another and ourselves. During times like these, resources are critical. Organizations such as Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA) and the Coast Guard Foundation (CG Foundation) are available to provide essential support. I encourage everyone to utilize these resources and ensure that those in need know where to turn for help. We understand that stress on families can escalate during uncertain times, compounding the challenges we already face. Please take proactive steps to care for yourself and your loved ones. By addressing your own needs, you will be better equipped to support those who rely on your leadership. I want to reassure our Warrant Officer community that you have the full support of our Executive Director, Mike Little, and Chief Policy Officer, Aniela Szymanski. They are working tirelessly to keep us informed and updated on the evolving situation. Together, we will advocate to ensure that the Coast Guard is not forgotten during these congressional discussions. Our strength lies in our unity and our commitment to one another. Let’s continue to lead with compassion, resilience, and dedication. If you have concerns or need assistance, do not hesitate to reach out. Respectfully, CWO4 Rob Resendes President Chief Warrant and Warrant Officers Association, USCG
