Serving as Treasurer of the Chief Warrant and Warrant Officers Association (CWOA) for the past two years has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. It was an incredible honor to be entrusted with this role as a newly minted Chief Warrant Officer, and I have cherished every moment of working alongside my fellow CWOs to support and strengthen our association. The relationships I’ve built within the CWOA have brought me immeasurable joy, and I would love the opportunity to continue serving in this capacity. No matter what, I plan to stay involved—so for those of you who attend national meetings, expect to see me hosting more “bingo” and other shenanigans!
Experience and Commitment to the CWOA I am currently assigned to C5ISC Portsmouth Campus and proudly serve as the Fundraising Chair of the Norfolk Chapter. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to serve in diverse assignments, including: ✅ Station Grand Isle, LA ✅ TRACEN Petaluma, CA ✅ Electronics Systems Support Detachment (ESD) Boston, MA ✅ Coast Guard Recruiting Command, Washington, DC ✅ Advanced Education – Engineering Technology, San Antonio, TX ✅ Base Portsmouth, VA ✅ ESD Seattle, WA After commissioning in 2022, I attended Chief Warrant Officer Professional Development (CWOPD) Class 06-24, where I was honored by my peers with the Outstanding Chief Warrant Officer Award. That same year, I was also recognized as Coast Guard Mutual Assistance’s Ambassador of the Year, reinforcing my passion for supporting fellow service members and their families. Why I Am Running for Treasurer The Treasurer’s role is not just about managing finances—it’s about ensuring the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of our association. Over the past two years, I have worked diligently to enhance financial transparency, strengthen our budgeting processes, and support initiatives that directly benefit our members. My focus as Treasurer will continue to be: 1️⃣ Maintaining Financial Integrity – Ensuring that CWOA funds are managed responsibly and effectively to support our mission. 2️⃣ Enhancing Fundraising Efforts – Building on my experience as a Fundraising Chair to expand opportunities for member engagement and financial growth. 3️⃣ Supporting Member-Focused Initiatives – Advocating for programs and initiatives that directly benefit our Active Duty, Reserve, and Retired CWOs. A Personal Commitment to Service Beyond my professional career, I am also a proud mother and military spouse. My husband, LT John Thompson, and I met while attending IT A-School, and we have been inseparable ever since. Together, we are raising our two children, Finnegan (9) and Piper (6), while balancing the demands of military service. In my spare time, I enjoy tackling home improvement projects (with varying degrees of success!), planning color runs and morale events for families in the Tidewater area, and devoting a ridiculous amount of time to my two Birman cats, Sushi and Hibachi. The CWOA has been an incredible part of my journey as a Chief Warrant Officer, and I am eager to continue giving back to this organization that has given so much to me. I appreciate your support and consideration in this election, and I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving our CWO community as Treasurer.
