IN-STATE TUITION AVAILABLITY FOR ACTIVE-DUTY PERSONNEL AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS

One of the main reasons people join and remain in the military is because of the available educational benefits and the opportunity to pursue their education goals.

To reduce the cost of attending educational institutions, over forty states have approved in-state tuition rates for active duty military members and their families. In many states the tuition rates offered to military members result in significant savings compared to the rates charged to non-military personnel.

Eligibility requirements for the reduced in-state rates vary from state to state. Therefore, to obtain detailed information about this benefit, military members are encouraged to access the in-state tuition link at Coast Guard Central or at the Coast Guard’s Institute’s homepage at http://www.uscg.mil/hq/cgi/ Path: Institute Website > Education Services > In State Tuition Policy (right side, under the Links). This link will direct you to the U. S. Army’s Education homepage. Click on the in-state tuition white graduation hat logo. On the in-state tuition page click on state summary (left side), a colored map of the United States will appear. Click on the particular state you are interested in for information on that state’s tuition policies and eligibility requirements.

For questions contact the In-State Tuition Program Manager, Ms. Mary L. Norwood, CG-1322, Mnorwood@ comdt.uscg.mil or at (202) 267-2987.
